Wada Masato is the actor for Sengoku in the Tennis no Oujisama musical. Born August 25, 1979 in Kochi Perfecture, Japan; he is part of a group called the D-Boys. His weblog can be found here! Wada was the first and only person to play the role of Sengoku, debuting on January 8, 2005 in Winter 2004-2005 Side Yamabuki (in Osaka). He performed as Sengoku in the following:
- Tenimyu in Winter: Side Yamabuki - Featuring St Rudolph
- Dream Live 2nd: Second Live concert
- Imperial Match Hyotei
- Hyoutei in Winter
- Dream Live 4th
- Dream Live 4th Extra
As a really, really loyal Prince of Tennis fan, I actually sort of have this blind spot for Tenimyu. I like the musicals, but I don't pay as much attention to the actors (obviously, since the infobank on Wada is so short! Un~lucky!) because i'm more interested in how the characters are portrayed. So, I apologize for the lack of Masato Wada information, however, he is easy to google up and pull information on. I just don't really follow dramas, boy groups, and things like that too often. Because, well, the only actor I've ever come to love in Tenimyu is Kanata Irei (Saeki Kojirou). Though I have watched most of the musicals that Wada is in (except for Hyoutei, I have a difficult time watching that with a short attention span)!
Okay, so Yamabuki's cast of actors aren't nearly as popular as Seigaku's or Hyoutei's; but they are quite the amusing team. Especially when you come right down to Sengoku, who is always, always interacting with every character, no matter what the team! He is portrayed as you know, his usual self; what's drawn out of his character in the myu is that more happy-go-lucky energetic side. Wada, in my opinion, is the only one who could really act out Sengoku. I think if they tried re-casting Sengoku, the audience for Tenimyu would probably cringe -- because as funny as it is, you have to admit, Wada isn't the prettiest boy in the myu (see: Shirota Yuu, Hiroki Aiba). But Wada's charm point is that glowing Sengoku persona that he can portray so well that, you forget that he's not as pretty as Shirota Yuu. And that voice! Sengoku just seems to come naturally to him! If you haven't seen him perform in the myu - what're you waiting for, haha! He makes Sengoku even more interesting to laugh at!
